Fall Convocation Highlights New Initiatives at Lee College
Lee College is embracing a new chapter with the launch of its yearlong “We Are One” initiative, introduced by President Jacob Atkin during Fall Convocation. The initiative reflects a renewed focus on connection, collaboration and a shared commitment to the college’s mission. With the message “Every role matters. Every interaction matters. Every person matters,” employees are encouraged to build stronger relationships and work together toward a common goal: many roles, one mission, one Lee College.
As part of the initiative, the college will also begin a comprehensive refresh of its visual identity. The effort will take a fresh look at Lee College’s brand, including its logo and other visual elements, to ensure they reflect the institution’s story, growth and vision for the future. The timing aligns with the upcoming opening of the Lee College Barbers Hill Higher Education Center and the college’s continued growth throughout its service area.
Convocation also introduced the new Awards of Excellence program, designed to recognize employees who demonstrate exceptional commitment and contributions to Lee College. Each year, the Board of Regents will select three recipients, while the president will recognize an outstanding faculty member, administrative staff member and classified staff member. Cabinet members will also present awards within their respective divisions. Employees with at least three years of service may be nominated by their coworkers through an application process that includes a letter of recommendation and résumé.
Together, these initiatives are designed to celebrate the people who make Lee College successful while strengthening a sense of community across the institution. The “We Are One” initiative and Awards of Excellence program will provide opportunities to recognize employees, celebrate excellence and reinforce the idea that everyone has an important role in advancing the college’s mission.
